It depends on what you have commissioned from him. If it is all service phases, he will rightly expect payment. See the contract with the architect. At this stage, he owes you a work that pleases you. Not just any plan. Therefore, it is his problem that he did not coordinate with you further during the development phase.

Just because you mention it and should check it for yourself doesn’t mean you have to change right away ;) Does he have references? Ultimately, of course, you also have to trust him if you yourself don’t understand the development plan or lack the knowledge of what options you have. I just wanted to mention it because with split level you also get ceiling height. I would ask him everything that you get here as brainstorming. Don’t know. The original house is being rebuilt anyway. You can also declare an inner courtyard so that it counts as part of the house. Or you make a clear L. It is a small settlement area from the 1930s where they nowadays apparently approve quite a bit freely. Hamburg is happy when living space is generated. The red is the building envelope, then there is this dashed line for “other buildings.” Possibly the conservatory can be positioned here too if it is marketed cleverly. It can be projected somewhat in front of the house with a 3 meter height – it would also only be an annex of a gardening nature ;)

Quick & dirty :) Letting ideas run wild is allowed..

Sheds and half of the side rooms are single-story, above that a row of children’s rooms, a row of the parent wing.
The courtyard can also be made with the upper floor overhanging. Down below is south..
But now I’m going for a walk with the dog, he’s waiting.

Not really. Of course, it was a big mistake on my part not to research him sufficiently beforehand. A friend recently hired the same architect for a single-family house and was very satisfied. That’s why I trusted him almost blindly.

I read here about 6 m ceilings and then this???

2.25 m ceiling height. I can only recommend another architect to you.

Looks interesting too. I'll wait and see how his second draft turns out, without influencing him with my own ideas beforehand. This time I won't limit him. He should let loose, then we'll see what comes of it.
