Is it possible to place a wood stove and lead the black exhaust pipe directly through the ceiling and roof to the outside, thus avoiding the need to build an additional chimney? Sometimes you see such things on the internet, but is that also feasible in Germany?

I unfortunately cannot answer your question with certainty. You must in any case consider that the smoke pipe also emits a certain amount of heat. Therefore, I find a direct passage through the roof ([Gebälk]) quite difficult. I don't believe a chimney sweep will approve that.

You sometimes see something like that in Danish holiday homes. They usually only have one floor, and the flue pipe goes directly through the roof. Sealed in a somewhat (layman's opinion) adventurous way. No idea if a chimney sweep in Germany would accept that. But I imagine it would be tricky if you still have to go through an upper floor.

Hi,
even if you get that approved, you should consider that you

[*]then have a flue pipe running through the upper living rooms, on which you can terribly burn your hands. It gets hot!

[*]And the pipe represents a direct sound bridge. That means the living room and the room above it will acoustically be one room.

Visually, that would definitely look cool in a corresponding house! But the disadvantages would really put me off...

Best regards,

Andreas
