Hello,
6.5 years ago we bought a terraced house from a developer. Until today, there have been no significant defects or anything else.
A week ago we received mail from the developer stating that an expert has determined that the bottom edge of the escape window in the attic (roof window) is more than 1 meter away from the roof edge (1.20 meters) and that this must be corrected. The general contractor built differently than what was in the plans. We were proposed to "cut off" the roof so that basically only "stub rafters" remain, or to move the window further down. Moving the window requires some work inside (drywall, wallpaper, paint, floor). We were also told to come to an agreement with our neighbors (5 more houses + ours) because it must look the same. Who is paying for this is not stated in the letter.
Questions: Who has to pay for this? Do we have to take care of an agreement with the other owners? One neighbor, for example, has rented out his house and we don’t even know where they live now.
Thank you for the help
