It strongly depends on the region and also the industry. For example, you are significantly poorer in an insurance company than in a bank (even in the same city/region). It is also always a question of what the actual regular working hours are.
What external employees take home is a whole different matter anyway. When they are "on the bench," it is often more relaxed; because the variable components are quite large.
yes of course I am in a strong industry (still). But IT people from my circle of acquaintances are sought after across industries and are willing to change because: IT, 4.0, Robotics, Agile etc. are on the rise. My employer would prefer to employ entirely IT internally, but cannot because despite good pay they can't find anyone. but this is really OFFtopic
