I have the feeling that all costs are considered without taking your family planning into account. Expenses for water, electricity, etc. will also increase because the dryer will be running. Then potential childcare costs and what about private health insurance for children? Do you live more rurally or in the city? That also makes a difference. For me, a 500€ buffer would be too little to sleep peacefully.

That's true. But when there are children, my income also increases. From my point of view, it makes little sense to factor in the expenses for children already now. If children should be here in 3 years, my salary should have increased by €400 as well. Even when looking at the salary of €700 of my wife as a lawyer, there should still be room for improvement here.

Is it easy to get a job in law in Hessen after the legal clerkship? Up here it is already hard to get a foothold in that field (unless you have a distinction exam or whatever it’s called :D). Just a part-time job is relatively easy only at big companies or the government.

Then I would already find the rate quite high (unless she already has a contract for afterwards).

What rate would then be acceptable?

So we have a 1600€ installment with 6500€ net income (so no health insurance or anything similar anymore)

That was exemplary, but even solid wood furniture does not last forever (or you sometimes want a different design, or to paint the rooms)... Obviously... from what? Or is that the plan for the future? Idk... just calculate about 100 euros/month... it should be enough for a new building, unless it’s in Siberia.
