you simply did not understand my posting. It makes a difference if you start building/buying a house and are not yet settled in life and have fallen victim to consumerism. That was the case with you. Those who at 35, with 2,000 equity and 2 financed cars then come up with the brilliant idea to finally realize their dream of a home are really beyond help.

And that is exactly why I find the basic advice to keep a household budget book so valuable, especially when you are considering buying a house or an apartment. And to do it really meticulously, then at least you truly know where the money is going.

Hello ,

I see two topics in your post.

1. Household budgeting
2. Financial planning/life phase concept

Regarding 1.:
Definitely important in financing, essential when the question “Can I afford this?” etc. is still open.
However, I do not see it as necessary to create a separate subforum for this. Most people who come here have already done that according to my subjective experience. If not, they are kindly pointed to it and that’s fine.

Regarding 2.:
Certainly a topic that in terms of scope belongs in its own subforum. But in my opinion, this forum is the wrong platform. People usually find this forum when they are already dealing with the topic of home construction or purchase. Your topic is not limited to that. It basically starts much earlier. That’s why I don’t see it as properly placed in this forum. It belongs in a forum about finances. Or one turns to the trusted bank advisor and then searches the depths of the net for information, advice, etc. But someone is rather unlikely to stay in the home construction forum for that.

From my point of view, therefore, all important topics but nothing for a separate subforum.

Thanks, now I understand what you meant, nonetheless what added value does your post have? It was primarily about whether you think it makes sense to create a subforum that deals exclusively with financial topics. These topics should generally concern one before, during, and after building a house and are, in my opinion, of great importance.

Hello face,
I also don’t see a subforum for a single topic as necessary.

Correct, it’s much more about topics around finances than the house building itself. However, I do think that it has a direct and very large impact on building a house and especially on maintaining a house.
You are right that there are forums that deal specifically with such financial topics and go much more in depth. However, I find, through numerous conversations with acquaintances/friends, that home builders (especially those with children) have a completely different approach to finances than other groups. Thus, you also get tips and suggestions from "like-minded" people who generally have similar goals.

It should rather serve so that home builders find a suitable category for these topics here, without having to search externally in other forums and not that interested outsiders hang around here.

Best regards
