It is true that fire protection switches have not been adopted as mandatory in the state building regulations, however, electrical companies must comply with DIN VDE (recognized rules of technology).

The only option for the electrical company is that the client formally objects in writing to the installation of a fire protection switch and that the electrician is released from liability.

Asked the other way around: is the advantage of this innovation purely armchair quarterback hype or is there a practical added benefit that can be evaluated physically and explained in a way that even blondes can understand?

No idea, I would be interested too, when our tomcat recently peed on the power strip of the PC, and as a result the entire computer died, the circuit breaker probably wouldn't have helped either......

A fire protection switch detects so-called serial arcs, which occur before a fire starts.

If, for example, a plug is not properly inserted, there is no proper contact and a fire could thus occur.

Just google fire protection switch and you will find quite a bit.

In the USA, by the way, this has been in use for many years.
