External sensor connection cable - Does the electrician install it?

Hello,

I am currently renovating an old small multi-family house (4 units). The new heating system is already installed and running. The heating technician recently wanted to install the outdoor sensor and asked me where the electrician had placed the cable for the outdoor sensor. I was confused and asked him why the electrician should do that. He said that electricity, cables for room controls, and cables for outdoor sensors must be installed by the electrician. Of course, the electrician didn’t know anything about it and now this cable also has to be installed retrospectively (however, the electrician had installed the cables for the room controllers).

Question. Is it correct that laying the outdoor sensor cable usually has to be done by the electrician? Or is the heating technician just trying to avoid responsibility here?

Best regards

Dosi.

It is part of the electrician's responsibilities, but the heating engineer has to say something about it.

Yes, whereby the electrician of course only performs the work for which he has an order. The heating engineer could IMHO support by mentioning, when submitting the offer, the things that need to be done besides his work so that in the end there is a functioning heating system.

Hmm. Our heating engineer wired and connected everything electrically that has to do with the heating. So it always depends on how the contracts are structured.

Ok, thanks for the answers, so it is usually done by the electrician after all. Knallkörper: My heating guy told me he is not allowed to do any electrical work at all, if he were to do it, he would also just hire an electrician, which of course costs extra money. Maybe it was like that for you. But I have an electrician for the whole house, so why should the heating guy hire another one?

Our heating company also employs electricians; perhaps this is normal in the industry from a certain size onwards. Otherwise, for every repair or replacement requiring electrical work, an external staff member would have to be brought in. Especially current heating systems (e.g., air-water heat pump + [Photovoltaik]) certainly do not lack electrical connections. Although: the outdoor sensor is probably connected by anyone, as this involves low voltage. Maybe someone knows something more precise about this.
