The thing with spiders probably depends heavily on the environment and the lighting there. If everything is bright and in town, the little creatures spread out and are generally fewer. In the village, as the only nighttime light source: good luck :)

I don’t understand the trend anyway, to light up your entire house. Entrance area and terrace and, to me, even floodlights with motion sensors against unwanted visitors are fine, but a light phallus on the gable or all around? On prominent city buildings, e.g. [Schloss], [Rathaus], etc. or beautiful old villas that looks impressive, but on a white plastered single-family house I find that irritating.

Yes, it depends somewhat on the house, I think. I find those dark shacks rather creepy...

But it has to be consistent, I think, too. I have a slightly wider bungalow and I imagine it would be nice to illuminate the gables on the right and left there.

Clear case of light pollution and energy waste.
Behold and marvel at the finest streak of light on my wavy plaster facade!
