Exterior plaster with paint or painter?

Hello dear members,

we are building a single-family house with 280sqm of exterior surface, now we still need a plasterer and possibly a painter. Apparently, it is possible to have the last layer of the exterior plaster applied tinted right away. Of course, this costs extra. The painter of course advises to have the house painted, as the paint would protect the plaster and make it more durable.

Now, as a layperson, I don't know if the tinted plaster is sufficient!

The house should only be painted white, so nothing special, and if money can be saved that way, that would be helpful.

Does anyone have experience?

with us, the plaster is already tinted white, so we do not need to paint over it again and no additional costs will arise for us.
If we want colored plaster (i.e., through-dyed), it will cost us an extra charge of about €2,000.

We would need to check what color the plaster already has with you and how high the painter's costs are.

Hello, I am facing the same decision: to have it painted or not? We want a very light beige white. Our construction manager advised us to have the house painted because the pure plaster would not be paintable in case of dirt, at least not in a way that you wouldn’t see it. The first layer of plaster already consists of colored plaster; to ensure the color appears uniform later, a so-called equalizing coat is necessary. So your site manager is right with his recommendation, even if the underlying reason for his recommendation is not clear to me... maybe he means a fungicide/algaecide coat?
