Hello everyone,

I am currently wondering whether I should prefer exterior or interior roller shutters.
Interior ones only with an inspection opening to the outside. I do not want to have to break open the plaster inside the room during a repair.
It used to be said that there are significant thermal bridges if you do not use an add-on roller shutter for shading.
What is the current state of affairs?

Thank you for your answers.

Nothing has changed in physics so far... but everything is more or less a philosophical question... because both have advantages and disadvantages...

Could you maybe briefly tell me the advantages and disadvantages? Nothing has probably changed in the physics. But in the insulation, the boxes.

Hello,

Why an access opening on the outside? Our roller shutter boxes are mounted on the window – thus forming a unit with the window – and can be opened from below; this is more or less standard with most providers. However, these openings should of course neither be wallpapered over nor covered with plaster.

Rhenish regards

Outside, because then there can be no problems with sealing the inspection flap. Furthermore, of course, because I can do whatever I want on the inside. The wall box that was shown to me is completely closed and insulated on the inside.

Hello,

Why should there be any thermal insulation problems if the inspection opening is to be opened from the inside and below the roller shutter box? It is rather the opposite, since – if you ever have to access it – plaster and insulation have to be removed?

Why should you do that?

Then you should ask to see window elements with an attached roller shutter box. Enclosed you will find explanatory images; the inspection box on the window is to be opened from below (alternatively it can also be opened from the front)

Rhenish regards
