Hello,
I am currently renovating my bathroom and also the bathtub. I actually use a bathtub quite often and am therefore considering buying one with a whirlpool function. Unfortunately, the internet is full of offers for whirlpool bathtubs with sometimes significant price differences.

Can anyone share experiences with specific manufacturers? Has anyone ever bought from a cheaper supplier, or should one rather go for well-known manufacturers like Villeroy & Boch? Prefer a built-in tub and then brick and tile it or rather not?

I am very grateful for tips and suggestions. Fortunately, you don't renovate a bathroom very often.

I would refrain from it because of the lime problem.

We had it for 10 years and are now doing without it in house construction. The maintenance effort is very high (not only lime scale but also mold-free!). Also used too rarely... better to go on vacation more often and use the spa there.

Oh, and if you do -> only buy no junk from China (almost everything on the internet is China junk)!!! Our acquaintances had one. Whirlpool tub from eBay for ~ 2000 EUR. Gradually, everything really broke... steam generator, leaking hoses on the whirlpool, discoloration on the tub, thermostat was replaced 3 times. Absolute disaster and already invested at least the purchase price.

We had one from Villeroy & Boch and no problems. However, costs start well above 10,000 EUR.... and that's only the tub + whirlpool without all the frills like in the China parts..

I don't have any myself, but I've heard from friends that you have to run cleaning programs very regularly.

that's not enough. You have to fill the pipes/hoses with active foam and rinse them several times.. preferably fill with clear water again and rinse. Ideally do this monthly.. If you don't do it once.. you can smell it immediately..
