Hello,

first of all, thanks for the dishwasher thread, it’s really worth its weight in gold!..

Maybe you’d like to share which non-Ikea extractor hoods (ducted) you decided on?

I want an extractor hood that basically disappears into the upper cabinet. Or rather, that only this pull-out part sticks out from under the upper cabinet.
The problem might be that I (very high ceilings...) have planned two upper cabinets stacked on top of each other, a short one (HxW) 40x80 with doors and above that a tall one 100x80, also with doors. I assume normal extractor hoods don’t fit into just the lower, short cabinet, right?

And which extractor hoods fit in there in terms of width (80)? The manufacturer doesn’t really matter, I’m not fixed on anything. Cheap, quiet, and powerful would be nice. ;)

Do you maybe have ideas, or can report on your installation solution?

Thanks!

Hello,

you can also fit a flat canopy hood into the 40x80 cabinet, but there are hardly any models for 80 cm wide cabinets since 60 cm and 90 cm are standard sizes in kitchens.

Thank you very much for your reply! 53 dB is of course not bad... In any case, I am grateful for further reports on how you installed your hoods. If I have understood my previous research correctly, the cabinet width is practically irrelevant for flat hoods. Flat hoods typically have a width of 60 or 90 on the part that you pull out, but the part that goes into the cabinet is about 60 wide. That means it would also fit into an 80-wide wall cabinet. In other words: the pull-out part is wider than the wall cabinet, but that doesn’t matter. I definitely don’t want a 60-wide wall cabinet; it has to be an 80. But it will be a wider hob, so a 60-wide extractor hood probably won’t be enough. Therefore, I probably have to somehow rig a 90-wide extractor hood with my 80-wide wall cabinet. Maybe someone else has already faced this problem...? :)

I am also thinking about installing a flat canopy in an 80x40 cabinet.

Although it is designed for a 60 cabinet, I don't see that as a big problem. I will simply put a 100 wooden block on the left and right and attach the canopy to it.
In front of the canopy, there will be a partition in the cabinet, creating a nice spice rack.
