It seems to me we are talking past each other (?) My statement was meant to convey that two sinks only fulfill their purpose when the bathroom is to be used by two people simultaneously. Now it seems to me your comment referred to not taking a washstand in a width for two but with a single basin (?) I had not expected such a thing to exist (and would consider it a novelty item).

Sure, let's do that. A writes, B understands

The long, recessed sinks for two with a wide base cabinet are plentiful in the sanitary exhibitions here in Essen.

Yes, all the bathroom studios can overwhelm you with that.

We choose a nice wide basin used by a single person. We don’t rush to get ready in the morning, and everyone uses the bathroom alone or at least it’s not necessary to have two people standing at the sink at the same time.

For the parents’ bathroom, we take the first setup.

For the guest bathroom, the second setup (but with a vibrant color for the outer apron, which still needs to be chosen in connection with the tiles).

Then you haven't been in the sanitary trade or in the bathroom department of any furniture store for a few years. By the way, this is not a joke, these things can be very stylish (also with two taps, for example).

Taste and needs are different everywhere. We only have one - and since we are not bulky, "in case of emergency" two people can stand at it. Such a situation was never made into a problem back then. However, the small design washbasins do make it somewhat difficult to stand side by side at them. But our little rascal wants a large bowl for two - good so. We have more shelf space on the side with a mirror, so someone else can stand there and freshen up. Total area: 160cm.

My experiences with countertop basins in the (still) rental apartment. A nicely looking Starck3 countertop basin, about 3cm away from the wall, and the water comes from the wall-mounted faucet at a relatively high height above the basin: visually pleasing, practically a disaster. It splashes like crazy, everything is constantly wet. In addition, the 3cm gap between the wall and the basin is annoying to clean. There is always some dust behind it... BUT: in my opinion, this is primarily due to the stupid faucet, the basin position, and less the basin itself. That’s why we are using two countertop basins again (Laufen VAL), but with the faucet on the basin, and the basins are placed flush against the wall on the countertop. Of course, not an option for bowls, but countertop basin doesn’t mean bowl, it means that the thing is placed on a surface and not mounted hanging on the wall [emoji6]
