Be sure to inform the screed layer in advance that you want to install such a floor.

P.S. I have such a floor in my garage. In the living area, it would feel way too cold/uncomfortable for me.

We were warned about epoxy resin because it is difficult to assess how harmful the fumes are to health. We have a small child, so that was absolutely out of the question for us.

I once asked a floor installer about this. For private use, you probably have to expect around €45 per square meter. Industrial floors - I asked about this when they were doing it in the office - can probably be obtained from €12. However, that was likely for a size of 2000m².

If you have chosen a specific type, I can ask there again.

Hello everyone, does anyone have experience with an epoxy resin / polyurethane resin coating on screed regarding
- processing
- appearance
- long-term behavior (stripes, dents)
?
I would like to apply this in the basement as a thick coating. Not painting/rolling, but rather pouring it out and then spreading it with a scraper so that smaller unevennesses are well evened out.

Hi One

Have you coated the floor in the meantime?
Can you share your experiences?

Thanks

Hello "dergiss". First of all: the term "Betonestrich" does not exist. The differences between concrete and screed are numerous and range from the differing installation techniques to the aggregate used. But that is not the topic here. Do you have a residential property? Then you absolutely cannot do without a screed as a load distribution layer. Where - please - should the insulation layer as an effective thermal and/or impact sound insulation measure be installed? An epoxy resin coating does not necessarily result in a concrete look. Also, please do not forget the necessary subfloor pretreatment measures so that the success of a coating measure can not only be expected but also achieved. In this context, the term "Ausdünstungen" came up from another direction. Just a note on this: for residential areas, only synthetic resins are approved that have successfully passed the AgBB test scheme for building products! No, I would build up differently (from bottom to top): - Concrete ceiling or floor slab, the latter of course with sealing according to DIN 18195-5 - Thermal insulation on the ground floor and impact sound insulation on the upper floors - PE foil as a cover - Cement screed CT-C35-F6-S45 with the note that a synthetic resin sealing will be applied on this - Scratch filler (optional) - Pigmented sealing or better: industrial filler with concrete look and final sealing ------------------------------------ The costs for a synthetic resin sealing with prior scratch filler are around €60/m² net, for a decorative filler (not listed here) we are at about €95/m². PS: for €12 to €45, dissatisfaction is already preprogrammed because your expectations for the floor in terms of appearance and durability will certainly not be met. From a cost perspective, the (elaborate but necessary) subfloor preparation measures are missing! Regards: KlaRa
