Hello everyone,
we moved into our new building in April this year and now one of the last tasks is still pending. We had a groove milled into the stringer from the ground floor to the upper floor when purchasing the staircase.
The plan is to install an LED strip in it, which ideally can also be controlled via our SmartHome system (Busch Jäger free@home).
Originally, I wanted to install an LED strip from LEDVANCE, as they have strips in their product portfolio that can be controlled via WIFI and can be directly integrated into the Busch Jäger Smart Home system.
Unfortunately, these strips are only available with a maximum length of 5m. My groove is almost 6m long.
Now I have to look for alternatives. The LED strip should be able to:
- dim
- RGB white
- if possible, have an adhesive side to stick directly into the stringer.
I don’t have much experience with something like this. I also laid a 5-core cable into the stringer, which goes to the technical room. There, you could install a switchable socket integrated into the Busch Jäger system and thus turn the strip on and off. For dimming, etc., you will still need a control unit. I assume this is included directly with the strip.
Does anyone of you have experience with such a project?
The following questions also arise:
- Which power supply? 24V, 12V, or 230V?
- How do you lay an LED strip in a 90° bend (I have two of those)?
- Which vendor/shop can you recommend?
Thanks in advance & best regards
Thomas
