If you don't have any special requirements for the network and don't do time-critical tasks, Wi-Fi will be enough. It wouldn't be for me. Everything I have standing around is connected via LAN and thus relieves my Wi-Fi. The performance of fast internet connections usually cannot be fully utilized over Wi-Fi either. Often, a single wall is already a death sentence for fast data transmission.

That's exactly the point: even today, many people are fine with a reasonably well-functioning WLAN.

Personally, I also count myself among those who prefer cables and have corresponding demands. But when I look around, many friends and acquaintances are actually quite undemanding. As long as there's WLAN everywhere and the throughput that comes out of it doesn't really matter. Instagram needs to run somewhat smoothly, and Spotify should work without interruptions – everything else is totally irrelevant.

I know some colleagues who thought the same way, but when they were sent to work from home a year ago, it was a big drama. Hanging video conferences were often the result. Then one or two patch cables were laid.

I wouldn’t call that undemanding. One simply has different requirements. For example, I no longer want to have stationary devices; I want to use a laptop (and/or tablet) that allows me to sit down anywhere and surf immediately, whether outside or inside. Likewise, I want to be able to print immediately from the respective location.
