Hi,
what should change with the corded drill?
The cable doesn’t care whether it’s being pierced by a battery-powered or corded drill.
If you cause a short circuit, the fuse blows, the drill stops – but the cable is still damaged!
If you hit the neutral and/or the ground conductor, nothing happens.
If you just scratch a live wire, it could become dangerous, not while drilling but later when you screw something in; it and the attached component could be live.
The annoying thing is: at first you don’t notice anything, no fuse blows, everything works normally.
Not nice if you use it to screw in, for example, a bathtub grab bar or something like that.
That’s why RCDs should always be installed.
Cheers Olli
