Hello "rabudde". To answer your questions: regarding question 1: "(...) can I assume that it is basically possible in the private sector to use the vinyl itself as an edge finish instead of these much too wide usual skirting boards?" Answer: Basically YES, because from a building physics point of view, it is secondary how I use the respective room. ----------------------------------------------- regarding question 2: "How much edge distance (...) with glued vinyl to the wall (...), to prevent consequential damage due to expansion?" Answer: The existing movement joint (or edge joint) between wall surfaces and screed gives the size range. If this is 5-7mm for non-heated screeds, that is completely sufficient. --------------------------------------------------- regarding question 3: "(...) how much overlap should the one on the vinyl have to hold properly and not tear immediately?" Answer: That depends on the expected movement and also on the material properties of the sealant. There are large differences in the latter. The "opposite side" and "adjacent side" of the triangle formed with sealant should be at least 5mm each. However, there are no binding reference values for these flank heights. To prevent it from tearing, here is a trick from practice: As soon as the sealant has hardened, the lower flank of the sealant triangle is cleanly cut directly above the floor surface with a sharp cutter knife, thereby decoupling the whole thing. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Regards and good luck: KlaRa
