The building application was prepared by the appointed architect of the general contractor, I signed and submitted it. The builders are my wife and me.

Yes, but you will also have signed a contract for work with your general contractor for the construction of a more or less turnkey single-family house.

That is correct. I will also take another look to see if anything has been written on the topic.

Sigh ... just skimming through the many topics here, you could have called the overview your own.

BT: You buy land and house from a single source
GU/GÜ: You bring the land (buy from a third party [here a municipality]) and the GU (provider of your choice and self-selected) builds.

Again: the GU you commission is responsible for everything running technically on the construction site (contrary to when you commission an architect with individual contracts); is responsible for any accidents related to the order (as GU = contractor) of the scaffolding. Simply put: the GU’s builder’s insurance is liable for accidents, including those related to the scaffolding setup.

Understood now ...?

Rhenish greetings

Thank you, Bauexperte, for the even more detailed explanation. I did not want to drive you to despair and had already understood the topic and considered it answered. I just wanted to respond to the question from Bieber0815.
