Hello,

I want to manufacture and install custom fronts for the Metod kitchen. For the drilling of the hinges, I would like to use the hole rows of the Metod carcases.

Unfortunately, the often mentioned marking/drilling template from Hettich No. 00351 does not work. The distance between the holes in the hole row is 50 mm and the distance of the holes to the front edge is 20 mm.

So, if I understand correctly, Metod does not have the System 32.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can neatly position the markings for the hinge drillings? Or is there a marking/drilling template for the mentioned distance?

Best regards,

Sven

Hello Sven,
with Metod the system is completely different.
For the attachment inside the cabinet you only need the two horizontally aligned holes next to each other.
And for attaching the hinge to the door you basically only need the large hole, the hinge is no longer screwed in but simply clipped in.
If I were you, I would take a look at the hinges at Ikea or buy a few, it’s not a cost factor.
It’s really brilliantly solved, just clip it into the door and that’s it.
And for the soft closing of the door, dampers are simply clipped onto the hinge.

Hello, there is no template. Just mark the distances to the door edges.

Hello,

since the prices of the fronts are partly completely exaggerated (especially for cheap foil coating) and I don't necessarily like them either, I am currently considering making fronts out of MDF myself and having them properly painted (or getting [Brokhult] from Italy).

For doors with hinges, I had thought about making a template myself. For that, I still need to take measurements at Ikea. But I assume that the cup holes at the top and bottom are equally far from the corner [after reconsideration: it has to be like that since the doors can be used on both right and left sides] and the distance from the edge is the same regardless of the door height.
Then I would drill a through cup hole once in a board at the correct distance from the corner - or maybe just buy an inexpensive front ([HÄGGEBY]) and drill through it. At the reference corner, I would then attach two slats at right angles over the edge on both sides so that the board can be used as a drilling template both at the upper and flipped at the lower corner. Then, one would basically only have to make sure not to drill too deep.
