Does anyone know the name of this algae pattern?

The tone makes the difference and for me (and maybe also Tarnari) your tone came across as snotty, condescending, and almost aggressive. I can’t pinpoint it to specific words and something was deleted in the thread anyway.

Here you repeat for the third time that the topping doesn’t matter (although many understood your question differently), which Tarnari then described so well and I heard “I don’t want to know which topping, but which pattern, you lucky charm!” (Curse word changed by the editors). Aggressive indeed.

And that confirms it:

Maybe you reflect on yourself, maybe you dismiss the babbling as such, it’s up to you. I think it’s good that you found the pattern and above all that you shared it here!

The deleted posts all came from the discussion between 11ant and me (and no one else) where it was solely about him trying to lecture me that wooden flooring is not the same as vinyl, that I have no clue, and that I should mind my own business. This discussion was absolutely pointless because it had NOTHING to do with the actual topic and contributed NOTHING to my original question.

If you ask in a car forum what a certain paint is called and then some random person comes along and wants to lecture you about why the paint doesn’t matter and you should rather decide between manual/automatic, and then you make it clear to him that you just want to know the name of the paint and he condescendingly tells you that you should decide between diesel/gasoline engine – would you be grateful for his help? Definitely not, and that is exactly what happened in the discussion. When I explained calmly that I don’t want to lay the flooring but want to use it differently, he tried to ridicule the discussion and wrote stupid remarks.

By the way, the discussion was deleted at my request and the moderation obviously agreed with me, otherwise nothing would have been deleted. I even thanked them for that!

I would have written that eight or nine more times if necessary. I don’t know what others understood, but in the thread title, the first post, and repeatedly I wrote that it’s about the decor, as I don’t want to lay the flooring.

I NEVER wrote that – not even remotely. How do you come up with that accusation?

I do reflect, more often than some others, otherwise I wouldn’t even respond. To me, it seems that direct answers are simply classified as aggressive by some people even if they are not. Direct answers are targeted and straightforward, but that doesn’t mean they are insulting or snippy. Maybe it’s because of my daily work, since I’m used to this tone. In any case, it wasn’t my intention to come across like that. I don’t ask for help in a forum and insult people who want to help me. If it really sounded like that, I apologize, that was not my intention (except for the discussion with 11ant – for that I do not apologize because it wasn’t my doing and I refuse to be lectured by someone who responds condescendingly and ridiculously).

I was just trying to explain how it came across to me, I know you didn’t write that literally and now also that you didn’t mean it that way. So all good.

That info might have been helpful from the start. But now the discussion is pointless.

If you really make picture frames out of it (and that wasn’t a jab at the toddler that I don’t understand), then I wish you lots of fun,
maybe you’ll even show us some results

In DIY craft projects, experience has unfortunately shown that it is not always the best idea to publish all trains of thought at once. Otherwise, with almost certain probability, answers like "you don't build a picture frame out of that," "I would use real wood for that," "why do you want to build a frame yourself?" etc. would have come. That would have been even less helpful.

No, that was not a jab - but strictly speaking, they won't be picture frames but borders for SmartMirror mirrors. In my case, a low profile frame is important because the mirror is to be recessed into a wall. Hence the idea with the flooring. The mirror itself is already underway. If the frame works out as I imagine, I can post it here.

You asked here about a flooring pattern. It is not at all surprising that the answerers thought you wanted to buy a flooring that looks as similar as possible and use it as usual. After all, it regularly happens here that people want to cover another room – especially an adjoining one – in matching style. So several respondents tried to do what is usual in such cases, namely: to show you ways to achieve that goal. To defame that as lecturing, to show you alternatives, is absolutely inappropriate. We regularly do not know what kind of product knowledge background the questioners were socialized with as builders. When you then – by no means already in the opening post! – said you only wanted to know the pattern, you still did not reveal what for – and it is no one’s fault that they cannot read your mind, not even mine!!! – but allowed the conclusion that the background of your question was just a joke for acquiring knowledge that is not intended for use. In normal life, your counterpart would briefly forget their pacifism over such behavior and pay you a visit to the dentist. That I keep my humor in such situations instead of beating up people, you should rather be thankful for that instead of defaming it as ridicule! Had you, like completely normal people – if necessary ask a neurotypical how that works – said: “hey people, I want to use a pattern for another purpose that resembles the shown flooring,” then you would have gotten appropriate answers. As long as you let us believe you are looking for a specific flooring decor, you will get answers tailored to your question, and not to your secret thoughts. This is not aggression, this is communication! Honestly, I still can’t believe how someone can be so sassy and mock that they are being helped kindly and humorously, even when they criticize answers where the real deficiency was probably their misleading question! You didn’t explain anything to me factually but even bit me for my humor! – politeness is different.
