Hello everyone,

an acquaintance said that a house built with timber frame construction creaks in stronger wind.
Can that be? Or is it then a processing error? How does it look in really strong wind, e.g. a storm?

Thanks and best regards
Herbert

Asked my colleague who lives in a house like yours and was met with loud laughter. Thanks

I think that should be no. My house construction company also builds in the Swabian Alb, where the weather is a bit harsher, and so far I haven't heard anything in the customer forum about the house creaking.

Hello,

well, I haven't heard of that. Only maybe some cracking in the attic - but solid houses also have a roof made of wood.

An acquaintance once told me that a solid house creaks in stronger wind. Could that be...

Regards...

Hilarious

I don't even want to claim that your friend is wrong, just look at how American houses made of wood frame construction creak a bit in the wind in Florida... They even fly away if you don't tie them down

When I see these houses made of papier-mâché, I wouldn’t be surprised that they creak. The exterior walls are definitely not more than 10 cm thick. Then there are simply glazed windows. In San Francisco, I stayed in a 4-star hotel and thought I was sitting on the street. From the 2nd floor, you could still hear people walking by even though the window was closed. With passing police vehicles, I felt each time like I had to pull my feet in.

But energy costs nothing there, so they prefer to cool and heat the street instead.
