What do you mean by wind-driven fan? Has anyone had experience with it?

That is exactly our system. The simple solution. Should also work.

What exactly did you install there?

We have reserved the plot and next week on Tuesday I have an appointment with the developer before the planning. The plot is 680 m2 and we will build a bungalow there. Bundesstraße is 400m away (100 km/h) and the railway is 100m away (the train travels at 40/50 km/h because the station is nearby). Both are in the west direction. A noise barrier is built. I have even spent relatively long time there with my family to decide whether the noise is acceptable. It actually is, unless there is a west wind. Therefore, I would like to have a ventilation and exhaust system, pollen filter and sound insulation are also important. But I am against the transport of fresh air through the pipes.

Where I work, there is a newly built city villa with air-operated fans on the roof. On Monday, I will call and ask. It is a bit cheeky, but asking costs nothing; -)

If that were the decisive criterion, no one should buy a car either, because they never pay off; okay, you can make a car look like it pays off, but nothing more!

We build passive houses and that might pay off in 20 years or maybe not; but I don’t care, because our construction method is very sustainable.

Regarding the ventilation system: if yes, then with heat recovery; I rather don’t understand why anyone would intentionally make tight windows or walls leaky again...

Why don't you understand this? If you want the comfort of ventilation without noise in the rooms at the lowest possible price, a decentralized ventilation without heat recovery is perfectly suitable for that...
