Hello everyone,
new parquet flooring (oak, white lacquered) has been installed in my apartment. See pictures.

Unfortunately, the parquet looks disharmonious to me and I fear that inferior quality has been installed.

Question: Are the white edges, which only a few of the planks have, normal?

These were not present in the samples from several parquet showrooms and in the manufacturer's internet pictures...

Thanks in advance for any experiences!

Hello "wohnfreunde 16". What you see here is sapwood. As part of the factory pigment application, these sapwood sections have absorbed a higher proportion of white pigments than the rest. Usually, these elements are already sorted out at the factory and therefore not packed. We do not know the term "inferior" in professional jargon. Natural materials are never inferior. The one who has clearly "slept on the job" here is the installer. He bears the responsibility. Because at the latest when the white spots became visible upon removal from the installation unit, they should have been sorted out and not installed. If you installed it yourselves, i.e. not a professional installation company, then it is your responsibility. These are the professional rules: Everyone who installs must know and comply with the inspection and diligence duties regarding the subfloor and material that also apply to a professional installation company. The legislator makes no distinction here whether installation was done professionally or amateurishly and without expertise! However, if the elements were installed by a professional company: Written complaint of defects and deadline for replacement. ------------------------ Regards: KlaRa

Thank you very much for the feedback. The floorboards were installed by a specialist company.
Have a nice evening!

I would also complain about that... It definitely isn't nice.

I just asked a carpenter friend and he does not consider it a defect, since there is sapwood on every second corner. If he were to always sort that out, he would have to reflect the entire material wear in the material costs. In the end, it's also somewhat a question of price.

Did the professional company also provide the material? Through your order?

Best regards, Yvonne
