Determine the position of the water connection at the washbasin

Hello,

I have a real "dummy" question about the position of the water connection for a washbasin. For a new construction project, I have to determine the position of the connections. The washbasin in the bathroom will be placed on a wall between the corner and the [window]. The wall is 90cm, the washbasin is 80cm. Should the connection be in the middle? How important is it that the connection is exactly in the middle? Depending on that, I might place the washbasin right in the corner so I have space on the side for a towel holder. I don't know how flexible such connections are when it comes to a few centimeters deviation from the middle. The washbasin will be one from Ikea for cost reasons and not from the planned sanitary store (cost difference: 700 euros).

What is to the left and right of the 90 cm? How cramped does it look in the end? How much importance do you place on the tile joints being at certain (symmetrical) distances at the end, for example to the washbasin edge, and are the tiles freely placeable or do they have to be laid in a certain pattern/distance?

In our case, a washbasin was subsequently shifted by about 10 cm (to align it with tile joints...). However, we have the base cabinet custom-made, so it can be adjusted accordingly to the siphon. With Ikea, it might be that the cutout in the back panel does not allow for much leeway.

About the narrowness: it is quite cramped. The washbasin takes up 80 of the approximately 90 cm raw dimensions. But an 80 cm washbasin is quite practical. Or rather 60 cm?

Around the washbasin I will not use tiles but paint with waterproof paint. That should be enough. I live without a husband and children.

If only the cutout at the back of the washbasin becomes a problem, then that is easy to solve. I was rather thinking of connections that do not fit or are not flexible.

Make it so that the 80 cm washbasin will be flush against the right wall. A gap won't do you any good there. However, I would take a sink that is 50 cm/60 cm wide in an 80 cm cabinet, so that you have storage space on both the left and right. Then seal the edge with silicone.

yes, a good idea with the sink a bit narrower and storage space. I am still looking for a solution for that. Ikea is limited in terms of flexibility. To wash my armpits, the arm needs about 43 cm to the side. So it fits.

I was more concerned about whether, for example, a toilet might be placed right next to it on the other side, if a toilet brush should go there, or something along those lines. If there is (relatively) a lot of free space there, I might opt for not placing it tightly against the other wall for aesthetic reasons, so it doesn’t look cramped into the corner. Instead, leave enough distance from the wall so that the towel holder fits in between. In the end, it’s just a matter of aesthetics.

Edit: I would also prefer a shelf on at least one side of the basin and only 60 cm wide basin for that.
