Did you mean it like this? That would be costs of around €4,000 (40 sqm) if you base it on your costs.

But it doesn’t look that bad at all, I think :D

Yes, that's what I mean :D Maybe I would set the wood a bit higher, but only maybe ;) I wouldn’t do the gable sides, then it looks wrapped like that. Since every house builder has their own cost rates, I’m curious how much the costs are. I can’t think of another inexpensive but nice option at the moment.

Hello,

I would be interested to know which wood was/is used; the price seems very low to me.

Rhenish regards

Construction expert, Jaydee, I have now looked it up. It is still an offer: "Execution of the facade surfaces with horizontal rhombus slat cladding in pine/spruce and wood glaze as an addition to the ETICS according to drawings construction meeting" ... €1898 It concerns an area on the ground floor on the north side of approximately 5 meters width, full height, minus the front door, side window, and a small window, and on the south side the intermediate piece of the ground floor and upper floor window, 2 meters width, while the upper floor has a parapet of 90cm and the area above the upper floor window up to the roof.

Hello,

Thank you!

That is what I expected and also reflects the low price of the special service; by the way, pine is not recommended for outdoor use. Also pay attention to the glaze - wood protection glazes without colored pigments have so far had no long-term protective effect outdoors! However, for some time now, there has been a colorless wood protection glaze specially developed for wood on the outside of houses.

The wood in the facade is exposed to high temperature and humidity differences; this often leads to unsightly cracks. Therefore - and also because most builders have little desire to regularly maintain the facades - we use larch or Douglas fir exclusively outdoors. Both wood types remain permanently beautiful even untreated ... but cost quite a bit more than what has been offered to you. Just as important are the material thickness, ventilation; and of course the proper manufacturing!

Attached you will find an example of a colored partial facade cladding made of wood - material Douglas fir; color RAL 7016.

Best regards from the Rhineland

Hello construction expert,
thank you very much for your tips. I will take them to heart.
I now also know through this forum that the wood is not the best.
We can live with this compromise in care (we are already repeatedly painting the wooden windows in the current house with black lacquer glaze), somewhere on the construction one has to save (all the money is going into the technology :( ) but we can also replace the cladding later, at least that's what I think. Or is something like that problematic?
If an expected windfall arrives on the account in time, we will upgrade the offer anyway :D
The wood color should be honey tone.
