Hello,

we will equip the majority (approx. 250 sqm) of our house with design/vinyl flooring. Now we have spoken with two experts and of course received two opinions: One clearly recommends a floating installation with a click system. The other is totally in favor of gluing.

Neither of them was really able to convincingly explain to us why "their" method is the better one.

Therefore the question: what would you recommend?

Thanks and regards the gnome

Depends on the surface and how the heating is done.

We will glue it because then repairs are also easier. Cut out the section, glue in a new one, done. We also don’t want any joints where something can leak in if a water bottle spills, etc.

I would definitely not glue vinyl flooring on underfloor heating! That causes so much trouble.... Vinyl flooring expands and contracts much more than wood, and if you add sunlight in summer, a wavy floor is guaranteed!

Bonding has the advantage that sound insulation is often better. In addition, theoretically, replacement is easier, but in practice, very few actually manage to do it cleanly. Thermal expansion is, however, an important aspect. With underfloor heating at a high supply temperature or direct sunlight, vinyl flooring can certainly develop waves. Therefore, the vinyl must also be suitable for bonding; otherwise, the defect is inevitable.

Bonding is also naturally more complex and therefore more expensive.

Flooring on underfloor heating should be glued. How is glued flooring supposed to expand significantly?
