Dark terrace slabs - How warm/hot do they get in summer?

If the plan is anthracite-colored concrete stones, forget it. We paved the access path and the yard with them. In summer, barefoot is only possible when walking. Standing still becomes very uncomfortable after a very short time.

Advantage: If you take out the trash barefoot at 11 p.m., you’ll feel a cozy warmth on your feet.

When our children play there in summer in the sun, it’s only with the water tap, which has already lost 100 liters on the ground. Then it works again.

I believe it’s not only about the color but also about the material itself.

If it should be relatively dark, compare it with a gray granite. It looks significantly better than light gray concrete paving. And it is also dark when it rains.

The following is correct:

Sure, you can walk much more comfortably on wood at the same temperature than on stone (and possibly better on natural stone again than on concrete).

If you want to be barefoot, I consider stone/concrete in full-day sun impossible. Then shading would be necessary.

If you still choose a wooden terrace, it looks completely different.

I agree completely. Our light stones also get very warm/hot in the sun.

I see it the same way. We have light gray stones, and they also get very hot on the south side. But what can you do... we have no desire to maintain wood, even though we like the look very much; a terrace entirely made of natural stones doesn't appeal to us at all.

The solution is quite simple, ... provide shade. If it’s so hot that the stones heat up uncomfortably, I want to have shade anyway..
