Hello everyone,
we bought a house three years ago. It was built in 1969. One corner in the basement is causing us some concern because there is paint flaking and discoloration. So far, we had enough other things to do, so about 2.5 years ago we first circled the affected spots in red to continue monitoring the situation. We are very careful to ventilate the basement regularly. Gas and water pipes enter the house directly above the spots.
Nevertheless, we would like to address the problem now, as we are expecting children at some point. I hope someone can say what it is based on the photos. Two years ago the house was replastered on the outside. At that time, I asked the plasterer to take a quick look at the spot. He did not seem overly concerned. As laypeople, of course, we cannot say exactly what it is – salt crystals or already mold? Before plastering, we had dug out the right wall (photo 2174) and reapplied bitumen, installed dimpled membrane, and filled in gravel. Unfortunately, on the wall with the damp spots, we could only dig down 80 cm because there were gas and water connections there, and at the same time, a downpipe from the gutter runs down the corner of the house, which is (for some reason) concreted into the ground at the base... The rest of the wall shows no changes.
