caspar2020 and as is well known, 80% still say tar and mean asphalt or bitumen.

The OP suspects that it is "tar-containing". If the stuff also comes from the time of the house construction (60s), that could well be the case.

With your brief comments, you gave the impression that tar-containing materials are being reinstalled as well.

Here is a little update: We now know that the tar coating is probably about 30 years old, meaning it dates back to the 80s. If we're lucky, the asphalt could be tar-free. We'll see...

What is the name of the company that offered the cost point up to 5000 mg/kg at 33 €/t plus about 150€ for 2 containers? We have an offer of 70€ per ton :-(. Thanks in advance Martin

So, for us it was the local landfill (Avea). However, the offer was not honored afterwards. We sent in a soil sample for analysis (about €70) and were lucky to find no contamination.

Disposal on our own would have been difficult because we would have had to rent an excavator and the containers are handled quite differently. The following things were to be considered for us:

- We had about 50 m2 of asphalt. In small 7m3 containers, we would have had around €300 - 400 just for container pick-up and delivery.
- The large roll-off containers (20m3) would have barely fit for us (6m length plus roll-off area plus maneuvering space - plan at least 18m of space!). However, they could only be filled up to 12m3 (weight issues). Also more expensive, so again high fees.
- The excavator rental would be per day. With self-organization, the container could only be emptied once a day, so it would have taken us about a week. That would already be €1500 for excavator rental including fuel.

In the end, we posted it on MyHammer and instead of spending €3000 on excavator and disposal, we "only" paid just under €3000 for a service provider who took the asphalt away directly.

Depending on the area, I would definitely tender it; in my experience, one should not do it yourself from about 30-40 m2, unless you have a lot of time, muscle, or money.

EDIT: We also tried the Bosch hammer once. It worked surprisingly well (asphalt is very soft); we managed about 3-4 m2 per hour. It then still has to be loaded manually into the container...
