I borrowed an earth auger with a 350mm diameter and drilled the holes one morning at 30 degrees outside temperature. Of course, with two people. Later, I had to dig one hole again by hand. That took forever. The auger cost me 60 euros and was such an extreme time saver. And yes, I drilled through compacted gravel.

Ok... Well, maybe we'll just try it with the earth auger. But probably not until next year, if the house is finally built by then (it's already a few weeks behind schedule). We wanted to do it together with the foundation slab because we thought it would be easiest and almost free to do it through the shell construction company... Since that's absolutely not the case, we can also take our time and calmly reconsider whether we really want the carport as planned on paper. Thanks for your assessment!

You can drill or dig a few holes yourself. Insert the [Schalsteine], pour in concrete, and done. One [Schalstein] costs around 2.50 euros. Maybe you need six for a foundation. I don't understand why that should cost 4000 euros now. Burying a kg of pipe in the ground only costs you the pipe and muscle power. That's really cheeky of your earthworker!!!

Yes, I get that. But the gate width of 2.88 m at this size really appeals to me. That's really awesome. In the end, it's about 1-2k euros... But my wife tells me the same line of reasoning. Well, nothing has been ordered yet. Building the house still takes time...

We also can't find anyone who will build a foundation for our garage at a reasonable price. It should cost around 5500-6000 euros, we would prefer 4000 euros. Maybe someone knows a company in the southern Rhein-Main area?

Best regards
Sabine

Strip foundation, pad foundation? What about your earthworker? Ask local landscapers etc., without knowledge of size and further details that sounds at least expensive at first...
