Convert Ikea Metod into office cabinets

You can also build pretty nice office cabinets with Metod:



The red doors still have the protective film on them, they are actually high gloss.

I would have also liked to install the handles on the black upper flaps, but we didn't dare to do that with the glass fronts. Although the Ikea salesperson who double-checked my planning left them on the shopping list. :confused:

Also, the black shelves in the black lower cabinets are still missing - they were just out of stock at Ikea.

And did you still dare to install the handles? Surely a glazier could have helped. I am also currently building with Metod, but only a boring built-in cabinet for folders ;) Next, I am considering building a 37cm deep wall cabinet. For that, I would have to stack like you, because I want to reach 220cm. That means 80 80 60. Is there anything to consider?

No, we did not install the handles ourselves nor had them installed. The small supplied edge handles work well anyway.

These are all 37 cm deep wall cabinets, so you don't have to make them "boring." I mostly have folders in mine, but also all sorts of other office stuff.

There is actually nothing special to note (I asked my husband :D), since each row hangs on its own rail. The rails just have to hang straight and at the correct distance, but that's always the case. ;)

You cannot drill in ESG, the glass would inevitably shatter.

There are UV-curing adhesives that are suitable for metal-glass bonds - how permanent this is for a handle, I do not know.
