Convert garage door to sectional door

Hello!

I have a question about garage doors: I would like to replace my old up-and-over door with a sectional door. Does the new door go exactly where the old one was, and is it usually installed behind that? In other words, do you have to apply new plaster and paint afterwards?

At our place, the gate was installed behind the wall. I would say the plaster should not get damaged. However, repairing should be possible with a joint.

That depends entirely on how cleanly the work is done.

At my parents' place, the old swing gates including frames were also removed, and the new sectional doors including guide rails were installed directly behind the gate opening.

Plastering work was not necessary.
