Hello,
we also want to install a controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery but are faced with the question of whether we should install a central or a decentralized (e.g. inventer) system or whether a combination would be sensible.
According to the information I have gathered on the internet and in discussions with experts, a central system can ensure air exchange more efficiently because there is an almost complete airflow through all rooms connected to the system. Inventer as a decentralized system tries to compensate for this disadvantage by having two fans operate alternately and storing the heat in ceramic elements, but from my point of view, this only emphasizes the advantage of a central system in terms of achieving as complete an air exchange as possible (even though the inVenter idea is basically a step forward).
The disadvantages of central systems, however, seem to be the higher costs and the issue with cleaning.
I do wonder, however, whether [KellerRaume] should also be connected to the central ventilation system. It now almost seems more sensible to me to ventilate [KellerRaume] decentrally, especially if they are not inhabited and are used, for example, as storage rooms. These rooms would usually be heated less or not at all and would therefore, in my opinion, negatively affect the heat recovery of a central system because they ultimately cool the outgoing airflow.
The best solution currently seems to me to be a combination of a central ventilation system in all living rooms and a decentralized system in the basement, possibly even without heat recovery.
I would be very happy about feedback or further thoughts.
