Hello everyone,

we would like to plan a controlled residential ventilation system from Zehnder in our planned single-family house, which will be installed by the family (sanitary specialist). However, we would like to keep open whether we install it right from the start. The reason is that we first want to see if we can manage with our budget.

So, for now, we would only lay all the pipes. We plan to accommodate them in a suspended ceiling. Is there anything speaking against this? How much space would be needed for this? Or should they rather be installed in the raw concrete?

If after the house construction we find that we still have the remaining ~ 6,000€(?), we would of course then install the controlled residential ventilation. Otherwise, only when we have saved up some money again.

The planning must of course be done in advance and everything else prepared.

Is there anything here that we have not considered?

I don’t think it’s worth it. You had to do the piping anyway, so you’ve already paid for most of the material and especially the labor. Just google how much your ventilation unit costs on the open market - it’s not more than 2-3K€.

I have installed all the pipes in the ceilings, all the valves are installed under the ceilings, so actually everything except for the [Schalldämpfer] and [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung Gerät] is prepared. I would do it the same way again, it has cost me about 2.5k with a lot of own initiative so far. If you want to do everything under suspended ceilings, you should allow about 15cm more, depending on how big etc., it can be tight.

There is nothing against installing the ventilation ducts in suspended ceilings. However, you will then have to do the additional drywall work yourselves, otherwise you won't have saved anything, plus possibly additional costs for increased floor-to-ceiling height.

Also keep in mind that if a controlled residential ventilation system is present, it must be included in the thermal insulation verification and then a blower door test is also required.

Where is something like that about the blower door test stated?

Thank you for the feedback. We will probably lay the pipes in the floor after all. Is an intake element placed under the floor slab into the garden with a controlled residential ventilation system? I had never read that anywhere and just heard it from my heating specialist.
