Hello builders,

what did you pay for construction water over the entire construction period (including plasterer, etc.)? I am currently doing my cost planning and would be grateful for a rough estimate!! Oh yes, the house is 10 by 10 meters with a double garage, fully basemented, about 170m² living space.

Thank you very much in advance!!

We have not started building yet, but I have already dealt with the topic. I have often read about around €1500 for construction water + construction electricity.

Construction water was not used that much, but you pay 10 times the normal rate for construction water... so calculate with 500.
And the connection with the digging will cost you the same cash.

We have not paid anything for construction water here. Our municipality provides it. And since we have still not had a water meter installed since we moved in (beginning of February), we still do not pay for the water. (The municipality has already been informed for a long time!)

You can have a construction water connection installed by the local utility company, which will later be removed again, and the line is led to the water transfer point inside the house. In my opinion, this is the most expensive solution.

Then there is the option to rent a standpipe and connect it to an underground hydrant for the entire construction period. This is also relatively expensive. It is possible that the standpipe will be stolen if it is not taken down every evening and stored safely somewhere. This is somewhat impractical.

Then you have to ask yourself at what point during the construction how much water is needed. It is clear that water must be available from start to finish. For example, there must always be the possibility to clean tools. However, only a little water is needed for that and for most other tasks. The same applies to concrete work and masonry work (thin-bed mortar). Only for interior and exterior plastering is a lot of water needed with a certain water pressure.

Based on these considerations, we will use the neighbor’s garden hose most of the time and only rent a standpipe for the plastering work (about 2 weeks in total). This has been coordinated with the craftsmen.

Construction water costs hardly any significant money. With an upper limit of 500, you are already being generous. Construction electricity is the crunch point!
