You can try, with us it is difficult and if the company is more of a service provider/contractor it becomes even more difficult, however, here (with us) as a child who lives there (are you currently living on the farm?) you are somewhat better off because of that.
We also built in an outer area, privileged by living - not by agriculture, and I tell you it was quite a struggle until we got the permit.
The most important thing, according to our experience, is an architect (even if he comes from a construction company) who is very well connected in your community, because the permits go through many hands.
With us first the city, then the district, then the lower landscape authority, the water protection authority, and of course the responsible nature conservation authority all had to have a say.
We built in NRW.
Thanks in advance for your experiences.
We currently live in a rental apartment in the neighboring town, but I am still registered at home, meaning on the company premises, in other words I still "live" there.
I think it should work.
I know the area a bit and also know farms where additional residential houses (either for the children or for the elderly farmers) have been built.
Although with the land prices, I wouldn’t start a big fight if the community / district office blocks it.
It might even be quite attractive to have at least some distance from the company and/or family.
You are of course right about the prices and the distance to the company, but for us the main reason for building on the farm is that we would have a beautiful location and that neither of us are the type of people who absolutely have to live in a housing development.
