Exactly that is the point, in 2016 there was apparently a change in the law according to which ownership alone is no longer sufficient to obtain construction financing. My father is unfortunately very stubborn, he admits that it was his oversight that the mill looks the way it does but he says he transferred the properties to me so I should figure out how to manage. It would also be enough if he gave up the usufruct on the second apartment located in the multi-family house, the Postbank advisor explained to me that it would increase the value if the house is divided not as a whole but, in this case, into 3 separate condominiums and is measured beforehand, but my father also does not want that because he says he wants to keep the second apartment so that he can use it as a retreat. So basically I have two houses but one is so much in need of renovation that moving in is not possible and with the other one I do receive the 600 euros rent from the rented apartment but my parents keep two apartments even though they only occupy one. I first have to discuss this with my partner and then consider if and how to proceed. I am slowly beginning to suspect that the most sensible thing would be to just leave the mill to itself.

Why don’t you take the parental leave? You are already at home retired anyway, so your future wife can go back to work full-time. Get married and more money in the [cash register]!

That was also my suggestion, but on the one hand I work on a 450 euro basis and on the other hand she does not want to work full-time

It seems that things are not easy with your family. I actually think you should be grateful that your parents gave you such a high value. Instead, you make even more demands. From the outside, it somehow doesn't look very nice.

Just for comparison: I have already been criticized here because we live rent-free with my parents-in-law at almost 30 and thus take advantage of them instead of finally standing on our own feet. That's just one way to see it.

I definitely think you demand too much from your parents. I would never have my parents' usufruct right cancelled. I also find the argument with the second apartment as a retreat quite legitimate. It would only come into question if the mill renovation were also a big heartfelt matter for your parents. But that doesn't seem to be the case. The question is why it isn't just sold then. Further decay only lowers the value.

I actually think that would make sense too. At the moment she isn't working at all, why if you are at home? And why doesn't she at least start again with 80 percent or so?

So to my wife because she takes care of our little one and it was her wish from the beginning that she takes parental leave.

Regarding the mill, it probably came across wrong. I only had it transferred to me because my brother announced that he would immediately sell the wreck as he calls it, which my father did not want at all, but he cannot understand at all why I haven't started already. When I explained to him that the construction financing doesn't work and his registered right of residence is a drawback and that he should at least have a debt registered with priority for the bank, he doesn't believe me and always argues that in the past this was never a problem and that he himself once had an owner's land charge registered with less income than I have. And that's the problem, it means a lot to him too, but he wants me to do it.

But a solution will be found for you in two years at the latest.
