We build in the Rhein Neckar district, KFW 40+ solid equipment for about 3000€ per m2 on a concrete slab.

Congratulations on the plot, it's like a lottery jackpot here.

Oh dear, the experts are here again. Calling people back and forth is almost the same effort as doing everything yourself?!

: were you unemployed during your house construction?

Just with the foundation, floor slab, and shell, you can expect an average of 700 working hours. A complete house project for a standard 0815 house certainly doesn’t go below 1500 man-hours. And we’re talking about professional companies here.
That’s nearly 40 full working weeks at 40 hours each.

And the professionals know how to do the work. As an amateur, you can easily expect double or triple the time. Botched work is inevitable. To everyone reading this, don’t be fooled by the above statements ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was not unemployed. On the contrary, I was on assignment from Monday to Thursday. However, I had a long weekend every week. And of course, I was at the best age. I don’t want to say everyone can do it. I have already had that discussion here several times.

But nowadays hardly anyone wants to get their hands dirty anymore. Everyone just thinks, we just have things built. That’s possible too, but then you shouldn’t complain about the prices. However, nowadays both the sources of information and the technologies allow you to do a lot yourself. Maybe more than before. Because many things, especially in construction, have been simplified to the extent that any fool can do them. So, nothing for highly specialized professionals.

In the same way, I can buy many things directly from the manufacturer today. And if the German specialist trade doesn’t want to sell it to me, never mind, then I just buy it on the internet.

But one thing is still like before. You have to treat the craftsmen well. Fresh coffee every morning and at 9 o’clock there are fresh rolls with minced meat and onions. At the end of the day, a beer and a pack of cigarettes. Then everything works out on the construction site. But how should the tenured teacher know that either.
