He says we can do the basement with ventilation or without ventilation. It's our decision.

It means between the ground floor and the basement stairwell, just as Alex85 had already suspected. The basement rooms still have doors.

Thanks already for your contributions.
I am now leaning towards including the rooms because there are hardly any additional costs for the few extra pipes and outlets.
The way BratacDD did it is also worth considering.
We will coordinate it again with the ventilation installer and architect.

You might also need a larger unit since the total volume flow will increase (roughly by about 1/3). But I would do it anyway! The concept just has to be right and must be planned exactly like in the other floors. I am surprised that the ventilation installer doesn’t say more about it. What does the overall concept look like? What air exchange rate is aimed for? How should the basement be ventilated without controlled residential ventilation? What use do you plan there?

We have now decided to include the basement as well.
Well, we haven’t even commissioned the ventilation installer yet. We only had a quote from him where the basement was taken into account. That then raised the question of whether to connect the basement to the ventilation system or not. And we just wanted to ask around to see how others do it.

I also have to revise my last statement, where I said the ventilation installer said we could include the basement or not.
Our architect told us we should consider whether we want to ventilate the basement or not. I thought this statement came from the ventilation installer to our architect. But that was not the case. So apologies for the confusion.

Without controlled residential ventilation, window ventilation would have had to be done, with the consideration that basement rooms do not need to be ventilated as often as living rooms.
But clearly, now that one thinks about it further, it would probably be rather pointless to leave the basement out.
Basement as a purely utility basement. Technical room, food storage, drying laundry in winter, hobby workshop.

Pure curiosity: What does the ventilation installer charge for the system including the basement?

Hello,

that's cheap. We will end up with self-installation for 180 sqm, so probably 2-3 more rooms, at just under €10k for the material, however including the 350 enthalpy unit and a geothermal heat exchanger. That's already about €1,500-1,800 alone.
Adjusted, the ventilation guy then charged you about €8k for the material and €2.6k for the installation. That sounds reasonable.

We had offers here including installation between €18k and €25k, completely absurd!

Best regards,

Andreas
