Hello everyone,

we want to concrete our entrance platform, on which either WPC decking or natural stone slabs will be placed. The platform will be wider than the opening of the front door.

In the picture, you can see the current situation. A black sealing strip has already been applied by the window company, and in front of it, the white perimeter insulation of the basement can be seen. We have now applied a self-adhesive bitumen membrane here (not yet visible in the photo).

Do we need to consider anything before concreting? Do XPS panels still need to be applied to the plaster?

I find the topic interesting because it is still ahead of me.
As far as I have researched, the pedestal of the building should be decoupled, so yes, for example, work with XPS boards in between. (but I have not yet found out how thick they should be and how to seal the joints (silicone?).
Then it is probably advisable to think beforehand whether you want an internal drainage and a "trough" for foot grids.
If you really do WPC, then I would save myself the effort of a concrete base and make an aluminum profile substructure on point foundations.
I also briefly considered building a wooden pedestal since I want to build a wooden terrace anyway.
But I really can’t bring myself to do it with the pedestal...

I’ll call in a few experts who I imagine might have more detailed knowledge.

Do you have more expertise?

No one has said anything more about this. Too bad. Have you made progress with your project? Maybe you got help elsewhere?

I'll join in here and have the same construction project ahead of me :)

We have almost the same door and starting situation.
I would like to pour a concrete base and then lay natural stone slabs on top. It's not quite current yet, but reading other experiences and/or tips here would be great!

I find it amazing how little response such topics provoke elsewhere as well. Either hardly anyone does it themselves or everyone who has done it is too ashamed... My father-in-law says a full concrete base is totally exaggerated. He would put two strip foundations and then a thick granite slab on top and thinner ones in front and on the sides. I'm not so sure about that...
