I planned and created everything with Autodesk Inventor. Inventor is available for free for "students" (or anyone who claims to be a student), but it shows on every drawing, which doesn't matter at all. However, Inventor is a professional 3D CAD software, and the required skills are not something you learn just on the side. If you know a bit about it, a CAD program of course beats any hobby home designer software by far. I have modeled all the furniture and can say down to the millimeter how much space is here and there. And I can also create drawings from the models (3D), which I can send directly to someone. I can move my models around in the rooms and later measure what size this and that can have, or which dimension I definitely want to have later.
