Hm as far as I know every fruit needs some sun, but I haven't researched that further yet. Our north-facing house entrance still gets morning sun until around noon - so there will probably be little to no shade-loving plants.

If my wife had the idea, I would fight with hands and feet. I can understand your husband and his arguments all too well!

If I had an old run-down house, I probably wouldn't mind greenery (although even then the spiders etc. would keep me from it). Never with a new house! It might damage the plaster and above all it also gets dirty, plus it has that kind of "fairy tale house look," which doesn't suit every house.
So I can understand your husband.

Best regards
Sabine

My parents have something like ivy on the north side. Growing into the gutter The bricks have not been damaged so far Insect population not worth mentioning Looks pretty good On the retaining wall east south/east grows wild wine Really pretty especially in autumn Insanely many wasps South real vine on the trellis Insects and tits live there

Thanks for the hint, so it’s probably ivy rather than vine... I like almost everything that crawls and flutters, but wasps are a no-go.
