Hello everyone,
Can/may click laminate/-vinyl/-cork etc. with HDF carrier be installed floating continuously over several rooms, or do expansion joints have to be made at the doors? There are expansion joints in the screed at the room transitions. Do these have to be adopted for floating installation as well? I have already seen it done continuously by several people, but I don’t know if they have expansion joints in the screed.
It certainly seems reasonable that joints in the door passage in the screed should also be adopted in the floating floor covering. But why do you see, hear, and read over and over again that it can be installed continuously? Are many taking the risk of cracks? I have now inquired with the manufacturer Parador about how it is with vinyl with HDF carrier. According to the email response, continuous installation is possible, but then the end joints should be glued. However, the manufacturer’s guide says something different; there, joints are necessary at door passages.
What are the experiences of the professionals or builders here?
Thank you very much
