Our first thought was that the hedge already there might be in the way during construction.
What do you mean it's not about you - if it becomes your property, then it's your decision what happens with it.
And if you build in a gap in the city, between two houses, that works too. Just because it's a hedge doesn't mean you have to flatten it.
