After installation means before acceptance in a house construction with a general contractor [GU]. In this respect, I would be a bit cautious with cleaning, as it could mean that the warranty no longer applies if there is any damage there.

But without cleaning, damages might not be detected before acceptance.

If cleaning is coordinated with the general contractor [GU], I see no problem with that.

Our house was cleaned by the general contractor exactly for this reason before acceptance. And we actually had to identify a scratch. He then wanted to find out who caused it... fortunately, we were off the hook...

Construction cleaning cost us €200 for 300m².

Unfortunately, the construction company took it out of their hide.

Same topic with us, we got the screed laid just before Christmas, and the screed layer messed up accordingly. We also wanted to get to it and clean, but I have now reconsidered and am waiting until Monday when everyone is working again at the main contractor. I will then ask whether we are allowed/can clean before handover without affecting the warranty. Honestly, I am not in the mood to do their job, only for a later externally caused error to be blamed on us. As the saying goes, the executing company has to protect its trade? Or does that not apply to main contractors or prefabricated houses?

Hello Golfi, it is indeed as already hinted here. If you built with a general contractor, you have a claim to a defect-free work upon handover. In that case, clean windows. Only those you wanted and also paid for. The general contractor must remedy this. It is basically the same with individual trades. The window fitter must protect his trade until acceptance and, if necessary, clean the windows. If you installed the windows yourself, then : lots and lots of water and a ceramic hob scraper. But never on the frame!!!
