Hello everyone,

we are currently planning which covering to put on the concreted entrance platform. Additionally, we intended to clad the sides with palisades. Now we have the problem that the light well connects at a different height right there. I have attached a few pictures.
Do you have any ideas on what we can do? The palisades cannot be placed on the light well.

I am very happy about any ideas and suggestions. Why it was done this way should not be part of the discussion, as we are already annoyed enough about it ourselves ;-)
Thank you very much

How much installation height do you actually have left?

To me, it looks like, with regard to the door, only tiles should really be possible. Or is there actually more installation height? Palisades will hardly fit with the light well, since you can't set them at least in that area. Installing palisades with the light well would also not be a really sensible idea. Therefore, from my point of view, the only option basically remains to cover the platform with appropriate tiles, unless there is actually more installation height than the pictures suggest.

I would take granite tiles, these are also available for outdoor use starting from 10 mm. That should be sufficient to finish flush with the shaft. And have a doormat installed flush right away. Is there still a step missing or will it be paved accordingly?

So a maximum construction height of 5 cm is possible. You would then also cover the side with tiles? There will probably be a step in front of it.

So with a max of 5cm, a natural stone slab should also be possible, which I would basically prefer. Alternatively, there are also correspondingly large tiles, I personally would tend towards a seamless variant.

But it also depends on what you would like?! Personally, with a max of 5cm, I would very likely choose a natural stone slab (a slab for on top of the pedestal) and do the sides with it as well, if that fits (how much space is there to the light well?). Although the side parts can possibly be made thinner.

At least it is a commendable demonstration to all readers to not only ask individual questions about their build here. At the very least, someone from the "regulars" here would have noticed this detail in time.
