On the south side, we have planned exterior blinds, electrically operated. But if you constantly keep the exterior blind down because the room gets too hot through the large window, that doesn't help either. In winter, the large window is probably more useful because you need the incoming light there. Of course, that's correct. The length of the windows is 118 cm. But it can't be much more, since we have a knee wall of 1.25 m, so it will end up somewhere between 2-2.2 m in height.

Exactly, it ends at 2 m now, and I would rather have gone up to 2.20 m than think about more width. Alone because that is easier than adjusting the rafter spacing.

I agree with you, windows with a height of 1.4 m would also fit, provided the roof window starts directly at the bottom purlin (according to my calculation that would be about 1.5 m length up to a height of 2.2 m with a roof pitch of 38°). However, I am not sure if that is possible and maybe it would also look awkward inside if the roof window starts directly at the sloping wall at the bottom. Usually, you leave 10–20 cm space? Then it would get very tight again? Attached is the section of the house, but it is a very good idea to use the space optimally.

Hi think maybe also about the type (Klapp- oder Schwing-Dachfenster). Depending on what you choose, you should also consider whether maybe an electric roof window makes sense because you might need a rod or other tool to close it every time as you can't reach it anymore.

That should not be a problem. It is a top-hung window (Roto R7) and is opened from the bottom, the hinge is located in the upper third, so you have a nice large opening in the lower area.

I am also considering making the windows 140 cm long instead of 118 cm. If they started just above the knee wall of 1.25 m, they would end at about 2.2 m. However, I am not sure if that would look too massive...
