How do we learn to see? Dark earth, bright sky. In forested areas, Harz or so, black-brown-greenish shimmering. In areas with open horizons that becomes a flood of light. Therefore, I believe the people from Harz decorate with darker wood, more hollow-like than we Schleswig-Holsteiners. But dark ceilings are a complete no-go against any visual aesthetics. Karsten

It's a matter of taste. Exposed wooden beams are one thing, especially if the ceiling itself is high enough and it doesn't feel oppressive; fully paneling in between is, in my opinion, something else. Even my grandma had the wood paneling ripped off the ceiling in the early 2000s. That this is still being built new today... is just a matter of taste.

Plaster, filled, painter's fleece, painted white. Solid wood in a visible look was more expensive, no extra high ceilings - an open gable would be something different, so we fear it will feel too oppressive. Wooden floor, wooden doors, wooden stairs. Enough.
